Believe it or not, Hot Topic clothing has been around since 1988. Today, this company has over 700 stores in the United States and a few in Puerto Rico. Hot Topic is a little like the “Anti-Gap” as it carries very unique styles of clothing that are very trendy but stray away from the typical jeans and t-shirt styles that most of the competing stores specialize in. In a Hot Topic store, you are likely to find a huge assortment of alternative jeans and shirts, t-shirts for every alternative/metal/rock band you can imagine, and tons of very unique accessories such as bags, belts, and wallets. If you just don’t like the pop-centric fashions you see on The Hills and similar shows, this store will probably have something you’ll love
Hot Topic stores are almost always located in shopping malls and you can usually spot them pretty easily. They have a unique archway with bright red lettering and you can usually hear rock music pumping out of them. It’s pretty much the opposite of what you’d find at the Abercrombie and Fitch clothing store on the other side of the mall. When you enter the store, you’ll usually be greeted by a well pierced employee dressed in black who will happily point you to whatever you’re looking for.

- Band Exclusives- Have you ever tried to go to a CD store to find some merchandise for your favorite band? It can be a frustrating experience. They may carry a small selection of shirts and other items but just not very much. At Hot Topic, you can find everything from shirts to wallets, patches to stickers.
